So! Some oddly familiar stories might be appearing on FFNet soon. That's because Swanchika, an FE fan from France, approached me to ask permission to translate some one-shots into French-- stories like "An Extension of the Weapon," "Twilight of Aurelis," and "Grains of Light." Swanchika here ! Just "shouting in the void" to say that my Enthusiasm-O-Meter is currently over nine thousand (the Time-O-Meter will probably have trouble keeping up, but that's another story), and once again, thanks a lot for allowing me to spread the love !

"Twilight of Aurelis" is next on my list, probably a matter of hours now before everything's done (in present tense, bien sûr) :)

Hello! Nice to see you have an LJ.

Re: present tense (I've been trying to reply you on that, but I'm expecting guests and am frantically cleaning the house). In English, present tense conveys a sense of immediacy that seemed more appropriate to that particular moment in time that did past tense. Since Roshea and his comrades are going to be faced with a turn of events they didn't expect, the present tense just worked in that case.

Woops ! Guess I was a bit too impatient. Well, present tense is also used that way in French, it's just that something like 90% of written fiction is in past tense. Even when the writer is painfully bad at using it. Actually, it was only the lack of habit that put me ill at ease in the beginning, now I agree it is the most appropriate given the situation AND it solves the issue of whether to use or not to use the dreaded "imparfait du subjonctif". Though I may have to check the verbs at least two or three times after that. Habits are tough to eliminate, I guess !

And well, it's not actually a LJ, just my Google+ account apparently working on LJ too. Nice feature, though.
