The quiet, the fog and the cold gusts of wintry wind are normal enough, but Jo is really not fond of today's random. Like those fucking, sudden, no warning because of the fog, chasms in the road.

Turning around for the third time, she walks in the darkness, one hand at her back resting against the butt of her revolver. In the distance there was a shape appearing.

Huh. It looked like a church. A creepy, dark, empty, middle of the night church.

It's almost horror movie cliche, but she approaches anyway.

Candles dimly light the sparse interior, picking out the outlines of frames on the walls, pews on the floor, smooth columns supporting the ceiling. A massive wooden crucifix hangs behind the altar. A woman stands before it, veiled in lace. She turns to face the intruder, surprise on her face.

Well. That's. Weird. (In a normal in a not normal place way.)

Her fingers curls around the butt of the gun. Jo tipped her head, in the closest to a hey or Ma'am as that one was getting.

"I was starting to think no one lived here anymore." Wry. "What's with the horror movie take-over?"

"Darkness," she answers, "the town is being devoured by darkness. It is as I have seen it."

"Un huh."

Psychic, maybe?

"You could look outside for that one. Anything more helpful?"

"Believe the evidence of your eyes. The demon must be stopped!" Emotion strains her voice. "It will consume everyone in this town."

The hysteric section gets nothing more than a stiffening, of her back and her hand on the gun.

But the words made Jo's eye narrow with sudden interest.

"What demon?"

"I knew this day would come. But you are not the Chosen One. This is beyond our abilities."

"That's lovely, honey. But I don't give a damn about being chosen or not."

Jo's bare patience were apparently being eaten by the darkness, too.

"There are monsters and creepy things everywhere, which is where I belong. So why don't you try something sensible?"

"My task is to aid the Chosen One," she informs her firmly. She straightens suddenly.

"We may meet again," she announces, striding toward a back door.

"What? That's fucking it?"

That's right. Hear the annoyed outlandish because she just got dismissed.

She's totally dismissed. Not even an answer, unless you count the door closing.

The door gets a glare that should make paint curl in terror.

Before she turns, blond hair swinging, and walks out the way she came.

(Stopping only at the door to fill up a bottle with holy water. Whut? Hunter.)

She wandered the town more.

Turning up no people, but finding two more chasms, a dozen empty cars and a pterodactyl. The last which gave her the gash on her right arm. She made him pay for it, too.

There empty world abounded, mockingly, giving her nothing until she stumbled into an alley needing a 'facility'. After making use of it, she tripped over papers which she read without picking up.

They made no sense, until half an hour later she found herself at Levin Street. And then found a dog House. Which got an odd look, but she was with it.

She should have expected what would come next.
