Quick update, I'll try and post more after school tomorrow. Enjoy!
“Fuck!” Until Marissa, Alex was proud to say she had never run from anything in her life. Now she seemed to be making a habit of it. She turned down an alley off the hotel and sank onto the curb. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”
“Hey,” Alex felt an arm around her shoulders and looked up to see Julian sitting next to her. “I saw you take off, what happened?” Alex felt two hot tears leak out of her eyes and buried her face in Julian’s jacket. “Who was that?”
“Marissa,” Alex choked.
“Oh poor baby,” Julian wrapped her in his jacket and let her sob into his shirt. Alex had never really cried about Marissa, preferring to get angry and defensive. Now it all came out on Julian’s silk shirt.
“So that was you ex?” Julian asked once Alex calmed down. She nodded. “And you might not be over her completely?”
“No,” Alex sniffed. “But she’s so totally over me. Was from before the end. She went right back to her old boyfriend the night we broke up.”
“Those are the worst.”
“Exactly,” Alex choked on another sob. “I don’t know if I was just to piss off her mom, or Ryan, or if she was just drunk the whole time.” She wiped her eyes on Julian’s collar. “I had no intention of getting involved. Just having a good time, knew exactly what I was doing. Then she did something to me,” she was babbling now. “And I was in way over my head. Couldn’t stop things, couldn’t stop myself. Until her I had total control of my life, now,” she waved in the general direction of the alley. “Look at me.”
“Come on,” he picked her up. “I’ll take you home.”
“Thanks Jules.”
“Don’t call me that,” he mumbled.
Julian saw her into her apartment and said goodnight. As soon as she locked the door behind him Alex proceeded to immerse herself in a bottle of tequila and passed out on the couch.
