yep, I agree... who I know didn't mean well was my great-aunt (my grandmother's sister on mum's side) who, for my first communion, gave me a discount for a getting laser on my hairs or a treatment to loose weight; imagine how a nine years old who was developing prematurely could have reacted...

Yeah, I'm the same is that I don't think I've ever received anything stupid, just the timing aspect, especially from relatives who I don't see often. I remember getting some basic preteen gifts when I was in my mid-teens and I recall being kind of like, "...oh, thanks" about it, but it wasn't exactly age appropriate at that time because I didn't really need most of that stuff. Then again, I know they meant well, since I think those were picked out by my younger cousins.

It's more obvious from those who don't know you that well and try to be generic with their gifts. It's not necessarily stupid, it just didn't have a lot of thought placed into it because they don't know what you like/would want.

I don't know if I've given anything stupid, either. I've definitely thought that I could've done better with the chosen gift sometimes, like I could've tried harder to find something more meaningful, but definitely not stupid.
