you're gonna rattle the stars, you are

43: who was the last person you gazed at the stars with?Uh... I don't think I've ever done that with anyone PERIOD. I do love looking at the stars, though. The only constellation I can find with any assurance of accuracy is Orion's Belt. I can't find the North Star or either of the Dippers. Well, sometimes I can find one but I never know which ( Read more... )

that's not to say there wouldn't be another mass journal deletion spree like about 10 years ago or so. Anyone else remember that? When LJ cracked down hard on journals and communities there was a handful of complaints that they were inappropriate or something? I don't remember what all it was about, just that there were a fuckton of deletions and that it was the first time I remember fannish interests being targeted on a platform that had been a comfortable home. Yep, in 2007 :nods: I remember that it was mostly underage Harry Potter fan art being targeted, and also Wincest from Supernatural. I *think* it was some religious group targeting LJ for whatever reason, sending in reports of do you know that this is on your website, and the previous owners just freaked out at the mere suggestion of incest and Pedophilia, deleting dozens of comms without warning. They did later backtrack once it was explained to them that it was all fictional and fair use, but it was too late for a lot of users by then, and that's what first started slowly ( ... )

It's so strange to think about that now and how outraged everyone was. I can't say that in the entire time I've been on LJ that the administration has ever been supportive of its user base, even before it was bought by SUP. Six Apart wanted to monetize fandom, I think, and failed miserably.

What a ride!

Movies like that wig me out as well. I like horror but I prefer the "ain't likely to happen" side of horror than the "can and does happen" side. Home invasions (with the exception of You're Next cause damn that was a good one), stalker movies... Nope. Do not like.

I get angry with them, rather than freaked out. Stalker movies piss me off with how they portray it and treat the victim. Some movies are a little cheesier and almost funny about it so I can deal (like, say, The Roommate with Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester) but ones I named above make me want to write angry letters to studios and tell them all to fuck off, LOL.

Same!! I've been thinking about Fear ever since I read this post and I'm wigged out and pissed off all over again. That movie did a number on me!

It wasn't a better or worse movie, just something that hits closer to home with me. The other ones are just irritating as fuck and enrage me because of how stalking is portrayed.

I feel the exact same way about those kinds of movies DX

Any time any of those movies have the character being stalked dismissed or ignored by cops I fly info a rage about it. Quit writing such shitty movies, Hollywood!

I found out that LJ now lets you know when someone unfriends you. Oops. LOL. I'm not sure if that's a new thing or if I hadn't been unfriended in a while and had just forgotten.

DW leaves me cold. Lots of my friends cross post from there, but it feels like nobody is really active over there. I prefer LJ. If it shuts down, I'll shut down with it, but until then, I'll hang in there.
