24: is there someone out there you would trust with every single one of your secrets?

Yes, and there are people out there who do know most, if not all, of them. I don't have many to start with so that's not difficult, I suppose.

I saw the latest trailer for the new Wonder Woman movie. I've never been a DC fan with what the current movies have ( Read more... )

I'm with you in being the least interested in Archie on Riverdale. Though he gets around a bit, he's very vanilla and I'm not feeling the chemistry with any of his hookups.

I also don't feel much of spark from the actor that's playing him. Maybe there will be some meatier stuff for the guy to bite into later in the season but so far his most interesting bit was the runaround about him confessing to being on the mountain when the shot was heard and that fizzled out way too quickly and was also played for too long.

Even his dad is lame and he's trying to commit adultery! Fred seems so, "aw, shucks" and it's weird compared to everyone else who're crazy/a gang member/pulling political strings/whatever. Everyone else AND their parents have much more intriguing storylines that make me want to know what happens next. Archie had a rehash of Pacey Witter's storyline from season one of Dawson's Creek.

The thing is: Why do they have to reduce Wonder Woman to "a girl in love" instead of focusing the movie on her abilities. The whole love story subplot annoys me already!
Who, if not Wonder Woman, can bear a whole movie on her shoulders conceptionally?!
If it would have been a male lead the writers hadn't seen it as necessary.

I didn't see the trailer as that at all. My takeaway from watching the trailer (only once, admittedly) was more as her being inquisitive from birth because she had to be raised differently (I don't know her actual origin story so if there are similarities I am unaware) and she learned to question that around her instead of falling in line with being an ideal soldier/warrior, which only enforces her drive and need to be "better" than the other women in her group/clan/family/tribe. The plane that came from the sky (it's not futuristic in this 'verse, right? It's not a saucer or space pod or something? LOL) affirmed her desire to see what was beyond the confines of her home and Chris Pine gives her an opportunity to leave so she takes it.

The romance isn't a new storyline they brought in because she's a female, it's because she's a superhero. Every single superhero movie that I ( ... )

I'm in love with WW trailer too. Based on DC's track record, this makes me nervous.

They haven't exactly given anyone a reason to trust them to this point! The script was written by three men, including Zack Snyder who's done the Superman movies (boo) but it's directed by a woman (yay) and she was the director of Monster that won Charlize Theron an Oscar (woo!). MAYBE the good will outweigh the bad and MAYBE HW will start giving directorial jobs to woman even when it's not just considered politically/socially expected.

I haven't liked most of the DC stuff, but I'm cautiously optimistic about Wonder Woman.

Glad you're doing well with the time change. I've had a bit of a rough time with it, but we're only a couple days in so I should be less tired soon.

I'm glad they're not focusing on Archie as much honestly. The comics were fun but I got tired of Betty v Veronica in their pursuit of Archie, so I like this direction better.

I shouldn't have spoken too quickly about the time change. I didn't get to sleep early enough last night and woke up groggy, but manageable. That's a Sunday night thing anyway because I throw my sleep schedule off on the weekends so Sunday nights it's a struggle.

I'm so glad there isn't the constant back and forth between Betty and Veronica. I also really like this iteration of Veronica! Betty is... eh. She's okay. And I really like Jughead, too!

I still haven't started Riverdale. I'll get around to it eventually, probably.

It's great if you watch a few episodes at a time so the storylines build without a gap. It's a fun little show and I love the cinematography. If you liked Veronica Mars you'll love this because it's very season 1.
