We carry on our journey from the House of Tom Bombadil.
Tom was kind enough to lend us ponies to continue our journey. They were the perfect hobbit size.
They took us past the Barrow Downs, which had been fenced off for safety in yet another
improvement to Middle-earth.
We arrived at the Prancing Pony without incident. It's a lovely Bed & Breakfast with many cheerful guests drinking tea out back. Everyone there gave us lots of good advice.
Despite this help, Mariole was still confused by the many paths leading out of Bree. She also had trouble interpreting the signs.
Fortunately, Maggie had met a tall, dark stranger who offered to guide us.
His first move was to lead us directly into a swamp.
Maggie and Frodo paid a heavy penalty in neeker-breeker bites for this little excursion.
We decided to abandon the stranger to graze and continue on our own. We set up camp and settled down for a meal, but once again scary noises sent us rushing on our way.
We fled as fast as we could to the Ford of Bruinen.
Peachy collapses from the strain. Mariole tries to revive her. "No, Peachy. Please don't drop, not now!"
It's the Witch King! ...No, it turned out to be only Maggie, warning us to get a move on so we could make it to Elrond's hidden valley before dark.
But it seemed Bilbo had not set down the entire truth in his diary! After crossing the Ford, we found not the Hidden Valley, but something rather different.
Fortunately, we found the place entirely suited to our tastes.
We passed some soothing waterfalls to reach Elrond's fantastic home.
Where we all went straight to bed. Heh.
We're not there yet! Wait and see what happens when
The Adventurers Go South. Heh.
