I am tentatively optimistic about the deal. Lucas goes away and Disney can put people in charge who will make money by giving fans what they expect or want. I hope.
Yeah, I'll put myself in that camp too, considering most of the SW stuff I've seen that I didn't like seemed to bear more of Lucas' direct input. It's sort of an awkward thing to say about a license creator, but I think SW has been better off when Lucas has had people to rein in his ideas, and that's been lacking. I just never thought I'd see the day.
It appears this doesn't change any of the existing licenses - Paramount's right to Indiana Jones movies was explicitly mentioned in one article, so I presume all the various game licenses stay where they are now. It does mean potentially different people making the decisions when those licenses are up for renegotiation, though.
