Castle

The fall TV season just started, and I'm already behind, having seen exactly one - 1 - fall show so far, Castle. In part, this is because, alas, however much I may feel tempted by the thought of watching Daniel Dae Kim in yet another show set in Hawai'i, I wasn't sure if I could actually face Hawai'i Five-O in whatever decade it might be set. I think of _Castle_ as _The Nathan Fillion Gets to Show How Awesome He Is Show_. Granted, I still love it. but I don't have high expectations beyond that.

My expectations are for people to banter about the mystery in a Nathan Fillion is Awesome kinda way :)

I liked Hawaii 5-0, although more because of Scott Caan's high-strung iteration of Danno working well with Alex O'Laughlin as the stolid McGarrett. It's a better show overall than the original, which tended to be block-solid clunky and awful, a Dragnet with bikini shots.

Daniel Dae Kim...meh, maybe the character will improve beyond "former cop with gray past." The showrunners have also taken a lesson from the Battlestar Galactica reboot -- if you're going to do-over a 1970s show, then change a character's gender and hire Grace Park to play her in the minimum of clothing. This is a similar principle to Primeval having Abby In Underwear every episode for two seasons.
