I think it's something about that particular section of the bike trail - even apart from the zebras, it runs through a section of Orange County that can best be described as idiosyncratic. It's still mostly and deliberately dirt roads - the bike trail is one of the few paved parts - lined with mansions and near mansions and 19th century homes and shacks.

Or it's just that I have a weirdness magnet. Whichever.

I used to live near an ostrich farm, and had friends who kept emus as pets, but I have never ever passed zebras on my way to get milk. They look so neat! I grew up with horses, but none of them had the punk rock style that zebras have going on.

ETA: Also, your title has me singing, "I smell milk and zebras here..." So uh, there's that.

I've never lived near ostriches and zebras before in my life. Combined with the horse farm in the other direction on the bike trail (with horses and peacocks and cute little miniature horses and sometimes when I'm really lucky baby miniature horses) and some of the other houses around here, I'm utterly enthralled. We also have a few very standard cookie cutter housing complexes, but I can ignore those in favor of the zebras.

This place also has some emus but I haven't seen those as often.

You know, I've heard that one too?

We used to have the ice cream truck stopping by regularly every afternoon at this complex - and then the kids below moved out, apparently taking all of their friends with them, and the ice cream truck figured we were no longer worth bothering with.

Me, I get accosted by people needing to tell me about Russian spies and prisoners released from Russia in 1952
See this proves we are related-even if just by marriage LOL
