Mary Stewart, 1916-2014

Romance/suspense fantasy author Mary Stewart died at the age of 97 this week.

My favorite book of hers was Touch Not the Cat: mystery, Gothic, telepathy, archaeology, identical twins - it kinda has everything. It was enough to get me to rush through the rest of her Gothic/suspense novels, of which the best is arguably Nine Coaches Waiting, ( Read more... )

The Moonspinners was my introduction to Mary Stewart, and I became an instant fan. My absolute favorite of hers is Wildfire at Midnight: the fog, the mountains, the paganism :) It's followed by This Rough Magic because The Tempest.

I remember that I read the first two of her Arthurian novels and liking them, but that's all I remember about them.
