Polychrome in Oz

Some time ago I had the opportunity to read Ryk Spoor's Polychrome in Oz in manuscript. I sent him my comments, some of which you can see in that link. What I didn't tell him was that both midway through and at the end I kept having the same nagging thought: wow, I can see that this might be a tough sell to publishers ( Read more... )

Yes, I actually touch on those reasons during the Kickstarter narration; it's neither fish nor fowl from the point of view of the publishing world.

I'd recommend the Royal Explorers of Oz trilogy as books that have a somewhat more adult take on Oz while remaining consistent with the original series.

As far as Ozma's immigration strategies go, it's interesting that she never seems to kick anyone out of Oz once she gets there. As far as I can recall, her only deportees were Ruggedo, the gypsies in Ojo, and the Mifkit in Scalawagons.
