Thanks for the mention and the kind words, Mari. That's a fine list of writers you've provided (many of which will appear on my list when I cast my ballot this year.)

I was at Worldcon but apparently I missed seeing nearly everybody :) This is what happens when you don't leave the bar much.
Anyway, I am tentatively heading to LonCon, assuming I can work out hotel arrangements. As of now the closest I can get is the Crowne Plaza, so I'll be going only if Accessibility can get me a little closer or if I can get volunteers to push me from the Crowne Plaza to the Excel. Or to wherever the bar ends up being :) There will be a bar part of the con, right?
Just hoping for some variety in that category, that's all. I could also rant about the podcast category but I almost never listen to those so have no recommendations to make.
Thank you! And definitely seconding the recommendation of Sofia Samatar for the Campbell. Aside from A Stranger in Olondria, one of the most assured debuts I've ever read, she's had a bunch of great stories this year. I'll probably have a recommendation post up some time next month (I'm still catching up with short fiction) but I already know she's a lock.
I'm hoping to see her on several lists -- her poetry was the first thing that blew me away, and then her fiction followed. I sorta try, at least, with the Campbell to go with the idea of "great career ahead" and I do see that with her.
I'm hoping to get around to reading some of Hugh Howey's stuff before I have to get my Campbell nominations in - on paper he seems interesting and he does seem to fit the "great career ahead" or at least "prolific career ahead" but I can't bring myself to nominate him until I've read his work.
I am so behind on short fiction it isn't a joke, and I may have to skip that category for the Nebulas if I can't read more in the next month. And I've read a grand total of two novellas, one of which I'm not nominating, so...behind there too. Sigh.
