Fannish crafts: amigurumi Captain America

So, having taught myself to crochet, I decided to try a fannish project. Since my brain is currently set on "all Avengers all the time," I decided to start with Cap. Despite the old adage that you can find anything on the internet, I couldn't find a Captain America doll pattern, so I got an amigurumi book from Amazon and modified one of the doll

Given the nature of comics, I'm willing to bet that "small tentacle monster attacking Cap's face" actually exists somewhere in canon.

I think your Captain America is amazing - my crochet skills extend to 'blanket' and 'I'm sorry, either I'm broken or the pattern is, and I prefer to believe it's the pattern' - and he looks fantastic! (Also, tentacle monsters FTW!) I can't wait to see Iron Man...

But the thing which really motivated me to comment was your gorgeous, gorgeous cat. I'm so sorry. He's just so lovely.

Heh. My own crochet skills are still devoping -- I kind of cringe when I look at Cap's arms, with the stuffing visible through the big sloppy stitches -- but I'm slowly improving. Hopefully Iron Man will come out well.

Simba is a looker, isn't he? So is Tara (see icon), but being a black kitty, she's much harder to photograph and therefore doesn't get the same exposure in my posts.
