It was nearly Christmas and I-pin yawned as she opened her laptop and started to check her mail. As usual, there was no mail from him. He must be really busy. She smiled at the picture on her desk. It was of her and Lambo last summer, happy and playing on the beach. It was the last he saw of him before he had to fly off for some training and missions in Italy.
For a while, he had e-mailed her everyday but soon, as time went by, the e-mails became scarce. News from Italy became less and she got busy with University. This was a path she chose for herself. She wanted at least an education before she got back, if she ever will get back into the mafia.
She sighed and clicked on the COMPOSE MESSAGE button and started to write.
Dearest Lambo,
It's winter now and I still haven't heard from you. Are you alright? Snow is falling in Namimori and do you remember your favorite crepe place? Well, they are having a buy one get one promo and I wish you were here to share it with me. You could have gotten grape and I would have gotten red bean. Maybe if you come home here, we could still do it. But, you have to be quick. It won't last long.
I heard from Takeshi-nii when I saw him visiting last week that you were training hard. I hope that you're resting properly and not eating too much sweets. Please remember also to drink milk. It would help your bones.
I also heard that Tsuna-nii is coming home after the Vongola Yule Ball. I hope I could come. But I have an important test that day. I really couldn't get away. But I bet it was awesome.
I am still working at the same Chinese place.Uncle Kawahiro still fusses over his noodles getting soggy at times but I try to be quicker. I-pin won't lose to Lambo. I will also work hard.
Lambo, as I look up at the night sky, the North star is smiling at me. Master said it is signal of good things to come. I hope that good things happen to you too. What is Lambo's Christmas wish?

I-pin pressed the send button and then closed the laptop's lid. She picked up her books and started to study.
The midterm rush had helped I-pin forget about the e-mail. When she did check three days later, it was still the same. Lambo still hadn't replied. Because of this the young woman was sad and lost all hope of seeing her friend this Christmas. Prehaps, Lambo had a girlfriend prettier and smarter than she was.
Christmas eve came all too soon and I-pin returned to the Sawada home for the festivities. Tsuna-nii just came home to Japan with Reborn, Bianchi, Fuuta, Gokudera-nii, Yamamoto-nii and Ryohei-nii who all were very eager to see Namimori again. There was even talk that Hibari-nii and Chrome-nee who were now dating, were also around Namimori and was coming to the feast. Dino-san who was never really far away when the family was gathering had also appeared in the Sawada home.That leaves Lambo.
When she had asked Tsuna-nii he had smiled at her and given her a present from Lambo and said that he was in a trip with the Bovino Family for Christmas. He told her that he was doing very well in his training and was extra busy trying to perfect a new technique.
I-pin accepted the gift sadly and read the card that came with it.

I-pin wondered and then opened the box. Inside was a beautiful earring in the shape of a star. I-pin wondered why there was only one and asked Tsuna about it. Tsuna said that he never opened the box and that Lambo might have dropped it when he was wrapping it. I-pin nodded and smiled and put on the single earring on one of her ears.
Christmas was fun as usual, but I-pin's thoughts were always going to her partner in crime and best friend. Lambo, whom she missed dearly. But she did her best to have fun, even if it wasn't the same. Lambo had always been there at Christmas. She missed the noise he makes, his loud laughter, his games and his smile. She missed his jokes and the way he called her tailhead. She missed him, completely and she was sad that now that she realized how important he was to her that he was gone.
It hurt her that he didn't have time to e-mail her. Even if he just saw her as a sister or a friend, he should have replied. It was unfair. The feelings she had was so one sided that she felt that Lambo was cheating her. She shouldn't feel this alone. She was in love with him but now, she couldn't even tell him.
That night, after the merriment. I-pin was the last one in the kitchen. She took her sweet time in cleaning up so she could clear her head. the words in Lambo's card echoed in her mind. What did Lambo really want for Christmas? She thought about it over and over as she heard someone in the kitchen. Was someone still there?
She checked. It was possible that Dino-san was sneaking in a night cap or maybe someone was trying to sneak into the Christmas presents. She crept up to the figure who was skulking near the tree. A burglar perhaps? That didn't look like Dino-san at all. She was about to shout when the figure straightened up.
"My.. my..I-pin, why are you foiling my plans of surprising you?" The familiar voice of Lambo said to her.
I-pin blinked. Lambo wasn't supposed to be here. He was supposed to be skiing with the Bovino family. What is he doing next to the Christmas tree?
"Lambo? What are you doing here?" She asked incredulously. She tilted her head and light caught the one star earring in her ear. " You're supposed to be with the Bovino's!" She said but her heart raced as she realized that indeed, he was there. The mischievous eyes smiled down at her and it was the familiar lazy ambiance.
"Well, it's true that I wasn't supposed to be here. it's a shame that I forgot to include the other earring in the box when I wrapped it and I just wanted to find the box where the gift was and add it so I wouln't look.. well... you know..." Lambo said sheepishly now stepping dangerously close to her and tilting her head to expose the other ear and put the missing star earring on her.
"Stupid? Forgetful? Dumb?" She suggested with a smile at her old friend as he put the other earring on her ear. This was the best gift she had ever recieved.
"Ouch, I-pin is that what you really think of me?" Lambo didn't step back from the nearness they had. Instead he put his hands on her shoulder and tipped her face up to face his. "Have you figured it out? What Lambo really wants for Christmas?"
I-pin drowned in his green orbs and smiled at him. "Not really," she admitted."What do you really want for Christmas?"
"Lambo-san wants I-pin for Christmas," he smiled and looked deeply into her eyes before lowering his mouth to hers in a sweet kiss. "Christmas would never be the same without I-pin. So you should promise that we'd never have Christmas apart ever."
I-pin beamed and nodded. Correction, the kiss and Lambo being there was the best gift ever.
"Of course Lambo, Christmas won't be the same without you, after all..." She said as she accepted another kiss from him.
