I feel your pain! That was the exact problem I had when I first moved back. That said, things are actually better now compared to a few years back. Well, at least I see more nutrition labels around :p

I guess one of the problem lies in the fact that many of these products are imported from other countries. Made in Singapore products are generally fine.

Even with products imported from Asia here in Canberra (with a nutrition sticker mandated by law stuck over it), I remain skeptical of the label and what it says. Basically, I have found two products of different flavours, but with the same nutrition label, and the same amount of calories, which is a lil' disbelieving.

haha, I have seen those definitely incorrect labels in Perth. Like in the oriental store, it is clearly dried plums (suan mei) but all the labels declare them to be dried prunes!
