If you want, I would be happy to come over and show you what I know. I've had to diagnose and treat a few machines in my time.

Grr. Argh.

Are you going to Unbelted? Are you ever on AIM anymore?

I am going to Unbelted. No, I'm not really ever on AIM anymore. :P

Is there power at the Unbelted site? If we can find a plug, I'll bring my screwdrivers and we can test a few things.

I haven't even checked where Unbelted is, so I'm not sure. Apparently it's a new site.

I'll bring my machine unless I get it working tonight thanks to the power of the internets.

Good luck! I hope you find an easy, quick way to repair it! *crosses fingers*

(Your "sewing" and "tech" tags together made me think about...well, sewing tech. It was an awesome picture in my head for a moment...)

heehee - I was looking at my tags thinking, "There has to be *something* I can use.."

Sewing tech reminds me of the Lego knitting machine that was flouncing around the tech blogs last week, or earlier this week.

It's my understanding that sewing machines (especially those that get used a lot) need to be serviced and cleaned regularly. (Not that I ever do mind you :) but that's what I've been told). It might just need a tune-up.

Mmm.... I know. The repair guy back in September told me to oil it every time before I use it, and I haven't been. I'm going to pick up some oil on my lunch break, and a can of compressed air, and we'll see how it goes.

Tetchubah of Greenlake has rebuilt a lot of vintage machines. You might consider asking her for advice and/or help.

Thanks! If I can't get it working, I will.

I have one of her rebuilt ancient Singers, and I loves it lots. Black enamel paint, and lots of gold leaf... She would be a good person to ask, indeed.

If Bharavi can't fix it, I would vote to get new one. They are not expensive but repairs can be much more so.
