waiting

a year older feels a little funny when "nineteen" hits the back of my teeth.
the weather here has been beautiful. the mornings are mostly cool with rain and grey skies. the afternoons are warm with clear blue skies. i am eager for cooler weather and am surprised at the rate it is cooling down in texas. this summer was miserable and discouraging.

mariah, i read and read and even when i go out with friends i sit there, elbows touching, bent over a page rather than into the conversation. contentedly. i think about you without feeling the need to write to you and i don't understand that. or is it because we've truly transcended communication into a state of constant, direct understanding? something like it.
