FFXII Fic: Knots, Ties and Tides, Chapter 11 (Larsa/Penelo, Cast)

Feb 16, 2008 08:25

Finally, hallelujah and amen, I’m finished with this wretched chapter. It was endless, it was aggravating and I have bothered many, many fine folks in writing this; this was practically fic as written by committee! logistika_nyx, lady_venn, kilraaj, sarasa_cat, sheffiesharpe-- these are the principal people who kindly suffered my silly hang-wringing. And yet, the irony is that in the end, this ( Read more... )

I have to admit... I rather have to wonder whether the threat found Larsa or whether he found the threat. You just know he's canny enough to realize that looking all sad and helpless and wound would be a good way to make Penelo go easy on him, hmmm? ;)

And my writing really doesn't focus too much on description, does it? I'm really trying to bring a bit more detail to what I write but it's an uphill battle so far. I've always been more concerned with the inner details than the outer ones. Well... we'll see how it goes!

Ahem:

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!! (etc.)

I love the little hints you laid throughout the chapter as to the revealation at the end, but the first time I was betaing it for you, I did not see it coming.

I love the fact that you chose the desert for the place for Penelo to make her decision (and godDAMN, do I love that you made her morally ambiguous like this).

I can't wait to see what comes next. Keep it up, darling!

Hee! Can I just say... I'm really excited about the fact that I've actually managed to suprise people with something from Knots? ;) I remember that the last time I tried to spring a surprise-- Larsa being the main architect of his plan to marry Penelo-- nobody actually seemed all that taken aback. So I've been full of glee over the fact that my latest surprises have been surprising. ♥

And morally-ambiguous-Penelo has been a ton of fun to write. She's not nearly as pure of heart as you'd expect her to be and that's what makes her little plans exciting...

This is so mind-boggling. I had to reread chapter 10 to refresh my memory back. The twist, the turn... urgh. I shall pronounce you queen of manipulative writing. :P

It's good. It's brilliant. Made me (wanna) laugh and cry at the same time. Bravo! :D

Hee! ::takes a bow:: Now that is a title I'd be happy to take. ;)

And I'm glad this made you want to laugh and cry at the same time! This series is definitely taking a turn for the more melancholy here but I don't want to drown in angst without putting in the humor as well. It's a funny sort of balance I'm trying to maintain here.

Hee! Now that is a metaphor to cherish. ;) But unfortunately, I think the faucet's about to turn off for a while. I put the next chapter of Knots up but I think I'm about to go on a nice, looong fanfiction hiatus. It's long overdue, honestly!

Ohhh she so still loves Reks... and that makes me hurt for her. She puts on a good show smiles and bounces along but even she after all this would break down and her knowing how it feels that if you love someone you could never if they don't want to make them love you back. True and sad ( ... )

Yep-- Penelo very much is a person with many, many layers to her. There's the act she puts on, the person she is inside that act, the way she both conforms and diverges from that surface smile, the history that's shaped her, the traumas she's gone through... I truly do love to unearthing all her layers, especially when peole see her as a very flat person ( ... )
