I have loved JW since small times and I always had slightly more love for his dream comics than for Frank. But reading Weathercraft this weekend might have tipped the scales. It is such a beautiful book and expands the Manhog story in a very satisfying way. And I love the cover copy! Talismanic I think is the best word for it.

interesting that you prefer the dream comics! i thought that everybody was more in love with frank. i used to fantasize about getting a pupshaw tattoo. and i think it is intentionally talismanic. the whole book is ... whew!

yes I am the exception. two reasons: 1. the dream comics are more elastic. Anything can happen, whereas Frank takes place in a weird but regulated universe. 2. JW is really good with words! Much better than most comic writers. They don't belong in Frank, but I miss them.

i'm trying to remember how to do comics! i don't feel like i have any idea anymore.

i might be in portland - there's always a reasonably good chance i'll head down there. we're also starting our reading series salon thing, you could come to seattle and read comics there!
