As if having my first baby isn't scary enough for me, now I have to worry about whether I really CAN trust my doctors.

I'm sorry about all your stress and trouble, sugar. Good luck nursing Tink!!

Yeesh. Thankfully, all the rest of my doctors seem to be doing their jobs properly. This guy just rubs me the wrong way.

This is why it's important to don't be afraid to ask questions and do some research, I will say, however, that with most isotopes and BFing, they would want to monitor the baby to be sure. I would encourage you to make sure you get second opinions with EVERY major scary diagnosis.

Doctors make mistakes and sadly there's idiots too. I'm thinking he mixed up I123 with 131, which has an 8 day HL vs. a 13 hour HL. With 131, they would encourage weaning, with 123 at higher levels, you'd have to halt for a couple days. Well, according to hubby's radiotech friends.

See, and that makes sense, with the research I did with the doc at the lactation clinic... The one she was worried that they gave me was I Sodium 123 - Iodine with sodium. That's one of the "complete cessation of nursing" drugs. There were a few others with fairly short half-lives, but since it's been a couple weeks, and they gave me the tiniest dose of 123 possible...

>.This is just the last straw with this guy - every time I asked a question or brought up the research I'd done, he treated me like I was an idiot. He would often remark on my weight, and how I needed to lose weight. And I was bad and looked at my records on his computer, and he has listed under "problems being treated" - hyperthyroidism and OBESITY... yes, I'm overweight. But I am not in his office for him to treat me with obesity. He also had in his records that I was on Percocet (???) even though I REPEATEDLY told him I was only taking vitamins, and for a while fish oil caplets. I'm allergic to Percocet, and mentioned that multiple times. One of the big reasons I ( ... )

Ugh one of THOSE jerks. Even though you went through some stress and stupidity, I hope your next doctor rules all out his scary diagnoses.

My husband and I just talked about this recently! That everytime I go to a doctor the first thing they say is "You need to lose weight!" and I look dumbfounded and think, "Are you going to tell me how?" and "Um, I wasn't overweight UNTIL I got Chronic Fatigue ( ... )

At least it was not fatal.... a certain HMO here on the west coast that has the same name as a former German ruler's title commonly misdiagnoses people in the er, sends 'em home... then their appendix bursts or somesuch.
