Nate is so all about skating that he is wanting to take lessons. He's good enough that I'm quite willing to fork out some cash for lessons. Tuesday afternoons and Saturdays are the lesson times. Well, a good method is to have the kids push folding chairs around the ice. That way, they can concentrate on getting the motion of push-glide without falling down. You can sort of do the same thing by skating backwards and holding their hands, but it's tempting to actually skate backwards and pull the kid along, and thus they don't learn anything. Adults can push another adult, but kids can't really. If they are tempted to give him a hockey stick, try to avoid until he learns how to skate. Otherwise, kids will just lean on the stick ( ... )

It seems unlikely that he'll be in to hockey anytime soon.
