My guess is that it is going to be a Ford Escape Hybrid, not the least because I totally respect Dan Neill's opinions. We'll see, but that's what an hour of browsing assorted car websites has gotten me. Opinions? I guess the perfect car would be a lightweight plug-in diesel hybrid (goes 50 miles on electric, then switches over to the hybrid). Diesel for the extra 30% gas mileage.

Have they started making some sort of diesel hybrid yet?

I'm not sure why I'd want the plug-in, since around here wall power just comes from coal.

There is a retro-fit solar plug-in kit that goes on top of the newer Priuses (not mine), that'd be handy - it boosts economy over the 60mgp mark in some locations.

As far as hybrid diesel goes, Opel and Citroën look to be the market leaders, unless you want to buy a bus. :( Opel is the English version of Ford, and of course Citroën is French. They're planning on releasing sub-compacts soon in Europe.

Or I can call 2010 and ask if Isuzu has come out with theirs yet.
