More high school stuff...

A couple of you mentioned community colleges in my other post about the older boy going to high school. We don't have any 'community colleges', but there are two 'tech schools' which offer classes locally. Neither will take a student who does not have a high school diploma or GED. He seems to think that somehow, he can do things so that he'll fit in and his teachers will be okay with him. In the two years he was at his other school, he's forgotten how nasty they were to him. He seems to be blaming everything on the school psychologist.

If I might suggest that if he doesn't already have a private journal of his own, that he should start one so he can document how he's feeling. I find it helpful for me to sometimes go back and re-read about certain incidents to see if I still feel the same about them after my emotions have cooled.

High school sucks, at least, mine did.

Well if you hold him back entirely he may only remember that you held him back. Is there a hobby he likes that he could join a club or group or sport for? I was in band in high school and it was great. Yes everywhere else I was shy and sometimes people were mean to me but band was where I belonged. And sorry about the tech class. Around here they have that too, for one year only there was a test you could take and I did and got out of it. But ever since then everyone's had to take it. A state requirement or some such. For one year they had a higher level class you could take instead but there wasn't enough demand and funding to keep that going. Given how many teens I know who shockingly can't use basic word or excel it doesn't surprise me they'd make it hard for parents to get their kids out of it.
