I think that you're a REALLY awesome mom for dealing with these shitheads. (And also: major BOO for the school for still employing that same counselor!)

Ugh. I hate being blocked by red tape and systems designed for someone other than the end user... may this all work our quickly, easily, and for the best.

Could you be obnoxious about the class and get him into it? Sometimes if you bug them enough, they'll let you do it. Sometimes not. I hate counselors who don't know what they're doing. Looks like that one has been doing it too long. I'd be ticked too.

Kids learn Word, Powerpoint and Excel in elementary school. WTF is the problem with taking an upper level class? My kids gets so bored when these teachers teach the basics again. So much so they miss stuff and then get called lazy because they're so bored with the computer stuff. Their elementary school was light years ahead of everyone else on the computers because the computer teacher thought that they could handle this stuff and they can. By the time they were in sixth grade, they were programming, creating their own websites and using the Lego Robots and creating programs for them. Kids know more than the adults nowadays.

Check with the local Junior College on the Web Design Class. The ones out here will let talented high-school students attend. Not sure about extra hoops to jump through on the paperwork, but it should be pretty straight forward. May just have to convince the teacher and get a note.

Thinking it would likely be more useful than most any high-school level content.

Good luck
