We had to do something similar to get Grace to eat meat finally. I can't even remember what, but it worked. She still only eats maybe five bites, but it's progress. I hate picky eaters. I want them to eat what I fix!

My older son, who is now 8, has been a very picky eater for years. We have a rule that he has to at least try a little bit of everything, and I don't push him to have more than one tiny bite. It's taken a lot of work, and quite a few tears, but now he's much less picky and is willing to try a decent variety of things. He's also realized that sometimes by trying something new, he discovers something delicious, which helps a lot.

This was identified as a sensory issue for him, although I suspect there is a bit of a power struggle going on, as well. But that's our goal: just try everything. You don't have to eat more if you don't like it. But getting him to that point, as you probably know, has been rough.

I'm very amused that this is probably the one area where we didn't have huge issues with our older one. :-) At least I know that they grow out of this stuff...

My older son is a very picky eater, but he knows he must eat a little bit of everything on his plate. Every meal begins with him rolling his eyes at me and the food, and he takes forever to finish, but he eventually does...

That's what we're going for here, but he apparently has some sort of sensory issue or something that's making it harder. Our goal is just to get him to try a little tiny bit of everything.

Oh well. Soon enough he'll be a teenager and eating everything in the house.
