She was in the command structure and with Kara being the only one capable of finding recon, she does become the ranking officer and the logical choice.

But Kara was right there, as ranking officer, and Dee was ordering her around. I'm not talking about being in command on the ground, I'm talking about mission planning in general. Kara and Lee have both planned missions before where they end up in the air doing recon while others are left behind to tend to the details. I know I'm overthinking it-- they needed a scene where Dee got to talk and create some Kara/Dee conflict, but I'm being picky *g*

Pilot!angst makes me HAPPY.

I took it as a combo of religious beliefs and way to keep Lee at a distance. I think Anders was just mouthing off.

Agreed.

What is up with LJ tonight? I am not getting any of my notifications, and then when I do get them, there's no corresponding post for hours.

What, she wants to stay married but not actually live or speak with her husband? And that, apparently, would be religiously kosher? DUMB.

I think (hope) we're supposed to see how DUMB her logic is in this case. I do go along with the wank that she's basically bullshitting cause she doesn't want to be completely available to Lee, but at the same time Kara's been shown to be somewhat religious so I do think she respects marriage vows she just....has a weird interpretation of what what that really means.

Why the hell was Dee in charge of mission planning?

That was totally weird and wrong, Kara sitting there and being ordered around - WTF? I know they had to do it for dramatic purposes, but they could've been working on the op together and snarking and get the same point across.

Even though we all know he can't keep his lips and his HANDS CUPPING HER FACE to himself.

It was so hot how he couldn't keep his face more than an inch away from her. And Kara was quite grabbing and gleeful too. OH PILOTS!!!

Yes, I think we're definitely supposed to see a combination of keeping Lee at bay and real religious conviction. But it strikes me that Kara's religious beliefs are fairly. . . unsophisticated. Which makes sense I guess.

She is his magnet of sex and love. OH MY PRETTY DOOMED PILOTS!!!

But does he really think Kara is a whore who sleeps around or was that a reference to Leoben?

oh now that's a whole new level of interesting. I've seen this sort of played in fic, but in a completely unsympathetic way. this is more lovely shades of gray

Yeah, I think it's a possibility. I've heard people say that Sam wouldn't ever be that cruel, which I totally agree with. I don't think he has any clue whatsoever about what went on, because Kara hasn't told him and maybe. . . maybe he hasn't asked. Plus, I don't think it's necessarily cruel for him to have these crazy, insecure thoughts (if he has them). It's just kind of the way the human mind works sometimes-- it's not pretty and it isn't meant to harm and he knows, deep down, that Kara didn't willingly shack up with Leoben because he's seen how incredibly damaged she is. He's just a person whose wife keeps pushing him away and I think it's possible in his darkest, most unguarded moments that he *wonders* what the hell the deal is with Kara and Leoben.
