Rambling thoughts on writers

Well, today I was better able to at least hold a book.  So I'm feeling a little better, less bitter.  I am halfway through Magic in the Blood.  I loaned my first Devon Monk book out to someone who lives out of town, and now I wish I had just kept it.  (selfish, who me?)  When I finished reading Magic to the Bone, I almost started reading it again ( Read more... )

m.l.n. hanover, books, lkh, suzanne mcleod, hardbacks vs paperbacks, authors, pain, devon monk

Glad you can hold a book and are feeling somewhat better. *Hugs* hang in there.

"I used to feel like that about a certain other author, but not so much now. Now I just wait for her paperbacks to come out, and I'm not sure I will even buy them."
I suspect you and I are talking about the same author here when I say, yeah... me too. I won't buy her books anymore. I stopped reading a while ago.

Are two of her initials L and K and _? hahahahhahha yeah. But for some reason I can't stop reading her daily blog. It's like an obsession, maybe addiction, though I can sure stay away from her books now. It helps that there are so many other Urban Fantasy writers who do a much better job than her. I don't like to criticize, (well maybe a little) and my intent is not to humiliate, (that's why I usually only write about books I like - and don't write whole names) but when an author starts out so strong, then changes and flat out ruins her characters, it feels like a betrayal. I know a writer has a right to do whatever she likes with her characters...but she wrote 11 good books. book 11 had a little weirdness in it, but it's a fictional fantasy/horror book. Then book 12, 13, and 14 - total waste of money. It really changed from fantasy/horror to what should have been labed erotica. And for erotica, it was pretty...vanilla. Written like a guy would write. I think that's why so many of her fans got so angry with her. ( ... )

lol. Yep. Same person.

I'd label it hard core porn personally, but I don't have anything to compare it too, that not being my reading tastes.

yeah, probably - but either way- it's a little (ahem...)boring. Even her supposedly edgy BSDM stuff is really....light.
