medication and me

Since I was able to get my pain control doc to understand that I can't comfortably take some of the psycotropic (sp?) drugs that he was prescribing me for pain, I've been relying solely on ibuprofen and Norco for pain.  This hasn't been working for me.  I went through my last prescription too fast and made an appointment to see the doc.  He lit ( Read more... )

Ugh. *Hugs* (gently)

I hope things do end up working out, but yeah, sounds like a shitty doctor. Maybe it's the same one that kept telling my mom that her pain and problems were all in her head. When she finally did switch doctors she found out she did have problems that, if her original doctor had listened to her 10 - 15 years ago, she'd be better by now because at least some of the problem could have been fixed. :(

Good luck.

that really sucks. Sometimes I think doctors don't really hear what they are listening to. They decide sometimes what is happening based on appearance and certain trends in medicine. Have you noticed the ads recently for depression medications that mention depression hurts - physically. Since then, whenever I mentioned to my regular doctor about aches and pains (like the back) she wanted to put me on depression medication. When I was in the middle of my uterus issues, and had been bleeding for over 2 months I told the gynecologist that I was so tired and wore out (due to the constant blood loss) that I could hardly do anything but go to work and home. She wanted to put me on antidepressants. I was feeling like that from the blood loss! My uterus needed to be worked on, and the bleeding stopped, not my brain! One of the first medications my pain/workmans'comp doc wanted to put me on was cymbalta-an antidepressant. Antidepressants are heavy-duty drugs that (I think) are overprescribed, and shouldn't be prescribed for pain and ( ... )

I agree, and I think my mom does too. If she'd been male he probably would have listened better.

She's doing better now. I think her feet still bother her, but she had some surgeries to try and correct the issue. I believe she's able to walk better and such. She doesn't talk much about it unless I ask and last time I did she said it was better than it had been. I live half a country away so we don't see each other real often, just talk on the phone.

I'm no doctor but if I'd been bleeding for two months I don't think I'd want an anti-depressant.

:) *hugs*
