A first!

So! I just had my first electric shock from the mains. It feels like a hardware geek rite of passage. Simultaneously, it feels like a numb ache down the length of my right arm and along the right side of my head and face. Dude,

Please, please, please, don't try and repair it, buy a new one and if you need feeding at Maelstrom then we can all help.

The only time I have ever done that it was when I was unplugging my PC to move up to Oxford for the first time... it threw me accross the room, and I sat up and blinked and thought 'huh, I always thought that was supposed to be fatal...'

ever since then I've had these moments of wondering whether everything since that point has not in fact been some sort of freakish death-throws hallucination.

Heh. Maybe it is. I'm reminded of that bit in... can't remember which book, where someone asks Death "Isn't my life supposed to flash before my eyes?" and Death says "THAT WAS IT."

My first mains electric shock was trying to remove a piece of bare wire from a socket that my little brother had stuck in it, presumably while the power was off. I was probably about six or seven at the time.
