Lab life. This week....

Apr 20, 2007 22:37

today, as this week was the most boring I had since when I was living with my parents.... I'll detail a bit what's been happening in the lab. He, he. At least, I will not be the only bored kid here. XDDDDD
The process is narrated here. Warning: Big pics. )

lab, still-life

yes, it's a mess but I love my space. It's so different from those of my labmates :)

hey, thanks! All of them are gifts from different places my labmates visited. It's like a tradition. you travel, you bring something for the lab people's desks. :)
Gus gene: its protein transforms glucose (or glucose sustitutes, as x-glu) into a product made of 4 units of glucose and with different properties.
but when it transforms x-glu instead of glucose, the X-glu is transformed into blue-colored products :)

that's so nice! :o)

what is the purpose of x-glu?

just to produce the blue precipitate. It's used to determine where a gene is expressed. ^^

I love microscope slides, but man, that must have been tedious! Looks cool, though.

neh, it all looks quite clean and organized, actually.

save for the pile of papers, but we all know that papers and research notebooks are just impossible to keep organized. *looks around at the pile on her right, the pile on her left, the pile on the window seat further to her left, the box and folders stacked vertically and horizontally in the shelf behind her* errrr, yeshhh, your place looks like organized mess. My table... *headdesks* belongs in another planet
