Methos in a Romance Novel...

Having gotten my romance novel rant out of the way, I do of course have a couple of ideas for fanfic.

Because really, most romance novels have heroes who are insanely good at everything. Immortals, on the other hand, have a reason to be insanely good at everything, because those who aren't tend to die at the hands of those who are. Stick Duncan ( Read more... )

Oh I would love to see that!
And the poor doctor Benjamin was also known to be in the company of famous degenerate Poet so of course he would be up to no good about those kind widows.

It would be very nice to see it even if I don't know the series

So it's been, you know, months since you posted this, but I am embarking on a project of "Read everything of marbleglove's that says 'Methos' in it." So, there you go.

I too, would deeply love to see one of these experienced, elderly women as part of a romance with Methos. It reminded me of a fic that I like very much (which you're likely to have read already). In that story, Methos is suffering from severe depression in Manhattan post WWII. There is an elderly Jewish widow pesters him to get out more, meet some girls -- she has a lovely granddaughter, for example. Later, he woos the widow instead, much to her embarrassment ("No, no, you want my granddaughter! I'm much too old!"). It's only a small bit at the end of the story, but I enjoyed it. The story is third in a series of three by Sandra MacDonald, Wars We Choose to Fight, Battles We Lose, Victories We Claim.

Oh yeah. I had forgotten all about those stories but I read them years ago and they were fabulous. I'm trying to stay away from depressing stories for a time, though, because a bit too much of my current job is violence and despair and general unhappiness. Give me something happy.

Life and work having become slightly less depressing, I went back and re-read "The Victories We Claim" and it was so, so good. Of course, now I really want to read the next story in the list, with Methos taking Mrs. Rosenfield to Carnegie Hall.
