Bridge to Tarabinthia just recently was made a movie. It's about a boy and his friendship with an abused girl who dies at the end. Very sad.
Flowers in the Attic really isnt a childrens novel at all. But I stole it from my mom and read it anyway. It's a VC Andrews. All her stuff is really dark and angsty.
The bad bad bunny wasn't Dr Suess I think, but it was in that kind of style.

you definitely had more of a taste for the classics than I did, I went on a kick about 6th grade of wanting to read a bunch of Newberry award books or Honor books.. .

I remember V.C Andrews from Mp. she seemed to be young adult more aimed at teens sorta thing -- from where it was shelved and who all bought it . ..
