That is a very good point about the mechanical dog. I never read this one because I never had to and I don't care much for the Distopia, post apocalypse type jazz. In fact I wrote a whole paper for my advanced comp class about how phillip k dick should stop rehashing 1984 and write something original for once. Maybe I just don't care for phillip k dick and his ever unexplained wore japed. It's not like grok where you can't define it because it isn't something that really can exist within the confines of our language, but is an idea he didn't really feel like wasting time to explain despite it being in the title. enough of that though. What I wonder is why we become more and more like what books such as 1984 warn us against while require our children to read these very books. It starts with camera's in traffic lights and making sure our children learn was "is important" but where will it stop. I'm ranting so I will stop now, but think about it.

I first heard of Fahrenheit 451 back in grade school, a girl who was a bit of a friend/mentor read some of it to her younger sister and I. I was intrigued, and I wanted to read it, but even then I hadn't gotten around to it/ had the money to get it/ the will to look for it in the Library. I picked it up finally during one of my stints in HS or early college where I was all "damnit! I'm going to read some of the 'classic' sci fi!!" and it sat there until this summer when I almost took it on vacation with me, and again until another copy was found on Dupp's bookshelf. He tried to give me a copy, but ended up tossing it over to Davis (me having one at home) I did start reading it friday night though and really had it done by monday night ( ... )
