Celery and food coloring works? Cool, when I was a little one, we used a white carnation.

We're doing the white carnation next. What's cool about the celery trick is that the "strings" turn a color along with the leaves, so you can see exactly where the water moved up the stalk.

And this seems to be the crud going around here. Whee.
