Okay, I'm kind of stuck on one of the songs I'm writing for the Purim shpiel, so I'm hoping that a little brainstorming here might kick something loose. Any help greatly appreciated :D

The song I need help on is going to use the music of "His Name is Lancelot" from Spamalot, but you don't have to know that song to help me. Basically, the original ( Read more... )

*applauds what you have already*

not sure if this is useful, but, "Mordechai" is kind of the same of a *cough* Babelonian god. (as Esteher is Ishtar).

the phrase "please don't tell the goyim that he's only kosher *style* also comes to mind.

::snickers:: Oh yes, kosher *style* is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, thank you.

And I'd forgotten about Marduk and Ishtar...but I think that's a different song ;)

You could play with them having Babelonian names similar to Jewish American "Aidens" and "Seans" and so on. *s*

(When did we get so Celtic?)

another "not frum" trope is eating Chinese food -- but only outside the house.

Why oh why are you writing a purimshpiel in July?

Because Purim is in February next year, which means we need to have the songs written by the end of the summer, so they can find people to sing them, write the narration, create costumes, and somehow get all those people in one place enough times to rehearse. Trust me, it's not too early when it's a big cast ;)

That must be some purimshpiel! Ours tend towards the thrown-together-at-last-minute variety.
