Yeah, I can't see Miles/Gregor either...neotomaJune 12 2009, 03:31:11 UTC
It's not just that Miles has only been attracted to women from the time we first meet him at 17 through the latest book.
It's that his *mother* thinks he's straight (and would react badly to having to acknowledge that his father is bi...), it's that his brother does also, and Ivan, and any and all characters to have cause to comment on it.
Miles eventually admitting that not taking up Bel on its offer was a mistake was the closest Miles ever came to flirting with bisexuality.
I think we've talked about this before. The reasons it doesn't work for me are: Miles, in canon, is straight. We've had two canon demonstrations to this, his reaction to Betan boys and herms during his year at school, and his reaction to Bel's flirtation.
Gregor, eh, there was a hint of subtext about his friendship with Henri Vorvolk....but once he found out about his father and Ges he would have fled screaming into repression.
(and of course my endless frustration with slash fic ignoring canon gay. I would kill for some good angsty Aral/Ges.)
I am just going on the assumption that Miles/Gregor takes place one universe over - that is to say, in a universe where Miles is *not* straight. Works for me!
Of course I do this with a *lot* of awesome slash fic about characters who would be perfect for each other if I didn't think they were straight. Mileage may vary!
