Ouch, four out of the ten?

I love pantry cooking, and that sounds good.

Yup, four. And I debated whether to bold a fifth. But almost every one of these is within a few miles of my house.

The kale and pasta was pretty good, though.

::sigh:: I love the DC area and I don't want to live anywhere else, but...occasionally it's annoying! At least I don't have to commute too much.

Oh man, I have ::counts:: four major grocery stores within about 2 miles, plus two specialty stores within 1 mile. There are two Targets within less than 5 miles and Yael's school is about 7 miles away.

Plus, we have a ton of great restaurants :) I really do love the DC area.

I'm glad I live somewhere with no traffic congestion! Once out of town I can drive 50km seeing only one or two other cars, and a few milk tankers, which have impeccably polite drivers.

How is the public transport in your area? I go up to Melbourne every now and then, and they've been letting the public transport run down terribly, so the roads are getting more and more congested. Surprise!

Public transportation can be good, depending on where you are and where you need to go, or it can be pretty horrible and slow. If you're lucky and your job is, say, right next to Union Station in DC, you have a bunch of great options. If you need to get here from the next county over, you're pretty much screwed.

Thanks! I have a few DC-and-surrounds people on my flist and some of them praise the public transport and others are in your situation. That clears it up nicely.

I really don't think #3 is that bad. I had a much worse time getting through traffic in Silver Spring proper ten years ago. I can't even imagine what it's like down there now.

::nods:: I think Four Corners and downtown Silver Spring are much worse than at least three of these intersections, including #3. And dude, Connecticut at Knowles is worse than any of the others they mention, IMNSHO.

One wonders how they came up with this. Although, actually, I didn't read the article so maybe they actually said. ;-p

I'll see your intersections and raise you one highway from hell. Sixty-six is getting ridiculous. It used to be that if you lived out on the fringes of Fairfax County, it was okay. Now, it's crap all the way out into frickin' Prince William County.

Ugh, I'm very lucky to be able to avoid the highways most of the time. Occasionally I get stuck on 270 going the wrong way and I always regret it.

Well, I'm lucky in that my job takes me in the opposite direction of everyone else morning and night. I mostly end up bitching on the weekends when everyone who doesn't typically drive during the week comes out and freaks out when they realize they have to merge. ;)

I'll second that. I take 66 every morning, though it's not bad at all if you've got a reverse commute.
