Cleaning poll

Dec 19, 2008 18:04

Keep in mind that I typed this poll while Yael was shouting in my ear, tugging on my hair, and generally doing whatever she could to disrupt me. Under normal circumstances, I usually leave out a very important option, so who knows what I've done this time ( Read more... )

We're both messy people, hence we have a cleaner once a week. She makes me a tidier person - we spend the evening before she comes tidying up the house, putting away clutter, making neat piles of stuff.

I think lilacsigil does more around the house than me - she definitely does more gardening. She does laundry, I do dishes. Laundry is a more involved process, though. *ponders*

Our friends Jeff & Rachel say their cleaner makes them tidier too, because they have to at least shift their clutter around.

I do a lot more around the house, which doesn't bother me when I'm not pregnant, but bothers me a lot when I am ;)

I think I do more on a daily basis, but st_aurafina does the occasional Really Big Cleanups. I tend to just double-stack the shelves and despair.

I can confirm that I don't have a vaccuum! Although since I don't have carpets and live (alone) in a two-room apartment, it's not really as though I'd need one even if I ever cleaned floors other than the bathroom and kitchen...the broom and mop are sufficient.

Ah, with no carpets, I can see living without a vacuum. We have a mix of hardwood floors covered in rugs and carpeting. I hate the carpeting, love the rugs.

Hardwood floors are awesome! The main downside is remembering not to wear shoes after bedtime out of respect for the downstairs neighbors.

Of course, I answered based on my own room, since it seems to carry a different set of cleanliness standards from the rest of the house.

YAY FOR SKEWING THE CURVE!

I thought that if anyone would appreciate that, it'd be you.

Is this a sign we spend too much time online, reading each other's journals?

I wouldn't be surprised at all :D

I think I'm kind of skewing things, since I live alone, and rarely have more than two loads of laundry to wash at any one time -- I have 'delicates' and darks, and while I'd love to separate further, it's too expensive when you're using a coin-op laundry.

Hmm, now that's an excellent point. It's been something like 12 years since I had to do coin-op laundry. It may be my favorite thing about owning a house ;)

Vacuum question: I actually don't own a vacuum, so I ticked that response, but I probably should've chosen once every few weeks instead. And I don't own a vacuum 'cause we have floors throughout and have no use for one -- it's the broom and dustpan around here! Which I don't use often enough...

As for my own housecleaning habits, I'm an everything-in-its-place kind of gal and it all LOOKS neat, but I don't clean as often. Dusting and sweeping and cleaning the bathrooms don't happen nearly as often as they should...

Sadly, we have both clutter *and* dirt. However, when I'm not pregnant, I do try to keep both down. I wouldn't claim we're very clean, but we're not (as my MIL insists) living in filth that will poison our child. (No, I'm not exaggerating...)
