Oh. My. I know I'm all spammy today but...you need to watch this ad from the National Advocates for Pregnant Women, explaining the real life consequences on women who are trying to carry a baby to term of antiabortion and fetal rights laws. Wow ( Read more... )

Yeah, pretty much. I was literally shaking with anger watching it. Several of those situations could have been me! I had a twin die. I might have chosen VBAC for this delivery. I had to make a decision about a C-section.

I can't cope either. I mean, I feel out of control enough now, but just imagining this stuff makes me freak out.

Yes, indeed it does sound a lot like what I remember of the Crazy Years. ::sigh::

Sorry about that. Maybe I should have started the post with a four hanky alert, because that's about how many I needed.

Makes ya want to beat the crap out of someone, doesn't it?

What scares me is how I can totally see that happening. ::headdesk::

Y'know, this fits in nicely with the discussion going on in fictionbya's LJ about feminism...

Oh yes, I can take a wild guess how you feel. ::hugs:: I seem to recall you got some stupid enough stuff from the hospital personnel, but at least nobody arrested you.

I can't imagine...I literally cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to lose a baby and then BE ARRESTED. If I could meet the people who thought that was a good idea, I would hurt them very badly.

That video makes me want a hysterectomy. The thought that my life could become irrelevant because of a decision I didn't make is horrifying.

Needless to say, I voted NO on 48.

(Oh a more amusing note, as far as I can tell, if 48 were passed - horrors - you could buy a gun for your fetus. And property. And it might even be able to vote.)

Hey, I think my fetus needs a gun, don't you? ::eyeroll::

Right now I'm just clinging to the fact that I've got a rational doctor. Of course, it doesn't help that one of the cases in this ad took place in Maryland...
