What about a nice bolero or sweater to go over the dress?

Could you wear a sleeveless dress with a light little shrug?

Couldn't you just wear a thin sweater over the beautiful dress to cover your arms?

Also, I came to your journal with a very specific purpose in mind. What makes someone Blewish? Can Black converts like myself be considered Blewish or is it a blood-related thing?

Also, congratulations on your niece's Bat Mitzvah. What does a Daughter of the Commandments have responsibility for afterward?

Yeah, I could have done a sweater but I really wanted to not have to do a sweater or jacket just once. Ah well!

Women's responsibility sorta depends on where you are and what shul you go to ;) At ours, girls are expected to do things like lead services and read Torah even after the bat mitzvah, but technically, it's all stuff like lighting Shabbat candles and keeping kosher and such.

Anyway, so far as I know, anyone who goes through conversion is considered Jewish. End of story. You're not sorta Jewish, you're just Jewish.

Blewish, I have no real experience with, but I think it's blood. If you have a Jewish mother, you're Jewish already. If you have a Jewish father, all Reform and some Conservative congregations will consider you Jewish already. Without Jewish parents, there's just conversion.

How does someone start the conversion process? Especially someone like me, who's autistic and will utterly freeze up in front of a crowd for at least five minutes before my brain finally lets me speak.

The system won't let me send a PM, so this is partially in response to your message ( ... )
