Recently I heard myself say to someone "I'm not the kind of person to hold a grudge." And what's even stranger is that at the moment I said it, I actually believed itI can only consider this a triumph of the human ability for self-deception, because I'm so clearly the kind of person who holds a grudge until it dies, then visits the grave at least ( Read more... )

I can see how there would be drawbacks to running a book fair, but on the other hand HOLY SHIT how I love the Scholastic Book Fair. You are doing Good Things.

Yup, I have such incredibly fond memories of the book fair. I literally could not let it die at our school.

Isn't it neat how they're all so different? The youngest niece was catching up with Nana (my MIL) when picking her up from the airport once and my MIL realized neither of niece's older her sisters had ever ask her "how she had been?" Subjects like that just doesn't interest them.

Barak does sound adorable with his introductions.

And the work on the book fair will be worth it. I remember spending a lot of time narrowing down what I wanted each year to fit in the budget my mother wanted. It's also awesome the helpers find the change to buy a book for those kids that are short on money. You're right, everyone should have the experience of opening a brand new book.
