LiveJournal is watching you (still).

From both sol_se and the_lj_herald comes the news that LiveJournal doesn't have time to rewrite their TOS so that anyone can understand it or answer valid user questions because they're too busy forcing people to opt out of their data mining scheme. I don't know what LiveJournal intends to do with the data they gather (and have been gathering), but I don't really ( Read more... )

It won't let me do it. It keeps either I need 2 or 4 arguments or that the command doesn't exist. *Rolls eyes* I don't want LJ mining my journal.

Other people were reporting that they got the "command doesn't exist" error. Just keep trying, maybe it's that too many people are trying to opt out at once? I would find that highly amusing.

Also, in good news, I haven't forgotten that I promised you that story for your birthday. :)

*Squeals* Cool! I was about to email you to see if you wanted any ideas or anything. And I'll try the commands later, see if I can't get a better result.

I don't really understand what«s happening, because I'm not too frequent a user to ubderstand the words TOS... But apperently it's something not so good. Help?

TOS=Terms of Service.

The company that runs LiveJournal are just being complete asshats right now. They keep making promises and not keeping them and they keep contradicting themselves left and right. Their latest trick is to disable comments on important posts and to screen or freeze comments where people are saying fairly mild things but that LJ doesn't agree with.

Oh... so, ok, I do not agree with that... but are they freezing comments only on topics related to LJ or freezing them in general, like, let's say I'm against some kind of a politician o something.

Only on some posts in LJ-specific communities, thankfully. If they started doing that all over the site I'd leave in a heartbeat.
