The thing with the lemon? What the fuck was that? That has got to be one of the most repugnant things I think I've ever seen. I don't know if I can adequately articulate the anger and betrayal I feel on behalf of Rodney while watching that scene.

My brain refuses to accept the idea that he carries one all the time. I know he said it, but because of the exact reasons you lay out in this post, it feels unthinkably wrong. So I'm telling myself (because if I can make up slash pairings and mpreg babies, I can mess with canon every other way, too) that the entire lemon was a joke to charm Mitchell and an excuse to pull him aside, and it's only Mitchell's devotion to Daniel that foiled Sheppard's plan to segue from "Here's a lemon to threaten Dr McKay" to "When you get back, I'll give you the ol' Atlantis good time." Because really, everyone in the city has slept with Sheppard. It's only fair to treat the guests accordingly.

...I'll stop rambling now. But yes, yay for rationalizing away an atrocious detail.
