I actually do think I need to start streamlining my songwriting, and get back to cranking out simply arranged but finished songs. I'm trying to get better about woodshedding lyrics, but that's always what I have the biggest trouble with. I've got one rough verse-chorus-verse-chorus-breakdown-half-verse-out thing roughed out, but as almost always happens when I don't have a lyric ready for it, it's stalled - partially because the only stuff that comes to mind for it is too obviously influenced by my current listening. (It doesn't do to sound too much like The Fall.)

I think you're right about collaboration. There's only a couple filmie/ viddy types that I know, but they haven't shown an interest in doing music videos for free. Too much like work, I think.
