i say use both when the time is right. that's the thing with weapons with added accuracy. if you need those extra few points in accuracy, using the book is a must. it's like me right now... i found a nakamaki, so i'm using that when my accuracy is sufficient enough to not miss, but i need that little bit of power to kill stronger monsters (even though that spear is painfully slow... thank god for booster). but then i have the pumpkin spear (had the fish spear, but the pumpkin spear is better and i hope GMS gets it for halloween), which i only bring out to either have a faster weapon (which is a lot of the time) or if i'm missing at all. i'll also find myself using different gear when the time is appropriate. you often have to sacrifice other things (like more attack) for better accuracy. for things like jr. neckis, you gotta bring out the full accuracy gear, complete with pills. x_x what's more important, actually connecting or 50 points more damage? >_> and it's not all the time, so you won't be stuck with the pig book for good. :D

*nods* but since GMS doesn't have the pumpkin spear or the green dragon sword yet, I'll have to use it/fish spear till I can afford a maple spear/PA. x_x;;

didn't they release that dragon sword thingy as a cash shop item? or am i mistaken? x_x if they did, that's pretty much a nail in the coffin for getting that pole arm... :(

I think that if you're going to stay low dex, you'd want things that give DEX instead of the STR, unless you really needed the ever so slightly higher damages. I guess it'd also depend on what you planned on sticking to.. you can always keep a high def set around for when you think you need it.
I personally would go with the spear for it's range (also, it TOO has some added acc, so its not toally useless) in that it can hit farther away, and if you hit monsters while they're farther away, you have more time to kill them before they run into you and do damage, right?
As for that "more acc so I have a wider range of monsters to fight", will you need all 10+ acc to train, or would the F.S. and it's +5 suffice?

And on a totally unrelated note, Pig Book + mace booster = Fastest attacks I've ever seen.

I dunno, really. I am a bit tired of being helpless in PQ's (except for my funny commentary! XD) and I am growing tired of battling green mushies... I really need to go to ludi, buy some acc. pills and see if I can 100% hit horny mushies yet. >_>

You don't need the Accuracy. If you do, you're training on stuff that's too hard.

All you need is the Fish Spear. I actually go BACKWARDS with the Pig Book later on with Pages because it's so fast I give up the damage, but for you it's worthless. Really, if you're finding you need the Pig Book you're on the wrong monsters. The highest level stuff you should be training on are maybe Evil Eyes, but mostly Zombie/Horned Mushrooms, Wild Boars and Cico/Cicle (the seahorse dudes) and that's it.
