you may have gotten 1% and not realized it; If you die in the train station you only lose 1%, but it will respawn you back in ludi.

I doubt I did... since the only thing to kill along the way were the penguins and such on the way from El Nath to the tower.... plus- I forgot about this part until just now- I have some safety charms and none of them got used up.
