anilee0510 Morimoto stands by the door, blocking the only entrance or exit. "I'm sick and tired of your games." He says, his voice ringing clear and cutting through the dressing room.
Chinen looks at him through the mirror, the hand holding the brush pausing in mid-air. He tilts his head to the side and bats his eyes, "Games Morimoto-kun? We're not playing any right now."
Morimoto rolls his eyes, "cut the bull Chii. You know what I'm talking about."
Chinen pouts his bottom lip and calmly says, "but I'm really not playing any games Morimoto-kun. I don't understand what you're talking about."
Morimoto frowns at Chinen's reflection and shakes his head, his eyes narrowing as he does so, "I can't believe you. Who do you think you are, playing with people's," he swallows audibly, "no, my heart, like this?"
Chinen's eyes widen, shining with innocence, "wh-what are you talking about?"
"There you go again!" Morimoto yells, "there you go AGAIN." He growls, "I hate this." He points a threatening finger at Chinen, "don't come near me. Don't talk to me off the stage. Don't... Just don't."
Morimoto slams the door as he leaves.
Chinen smiles at the closed door, he shrugs and proceeds to do his make-up.
Morimoto tries to avoid Chinen after that. Tries, being the operative word. Chinen won't leave him alone, following him like a lost puppy, chattering and laughing and hanging around and never leaving him alone. He pushes him away, both physically and emotionally and tries to be extra callous with the other boy. Chinen whines and pouts and the older members take his side, earning Morimoto sermons for his behavior.
He quickly reaches his limit and makes a move to do the first thing he thinks of doing: approaching Arioka for advice. But a problem arises when Chinen won't leave him long enough for him to consult with Arioka.
"What is wrong with you?" Morimoto pushes Chinen forcefully, sending the other boy careening to the other side of the room.
Chinen's eyes water, "that hurt Morimoto-kun..."
Something in Morimoto snaps, "I don't get you! Get the fuck away from me or I'll do your pretty face in, even if it means losing my job." He makes a threatening gesture before throwing up hands up in disgust, "don't you think I don't mean it."
He leaves a motionless Chinen in the room.
Morimoto's demeanor turns cold toward him. He does not avoid, but he gives death glares, cold shoulders and nothing but sharp, cutting words when he had to converse. He does not react to anything Chinen does, no hint of recognition or irritation. And after some time, Chinen doesn't even bother, merely sending dejected looks at Morimoto whenever he finds himself looking at the other boy. He becomes melancholic and less like the Chinen everyone knew and came to love.
Yabu corners Morimoto.
"Fix him," he demands.
Morimoto frowns in reply, " I don't have any obligations to."
He tries to walk away but Yabu grabs his arm. Yabu faces him squarely and looks deep into Morimoto's eyes, "yes. yes you do. You are part of Hey! Say! JUMP. As a member, you are 'obligated' to care for the other members of the same group."
"What if I don't want to be part of the group anymore?" Morimoto wrenches his arm away, answering back with his most defiant tone.
"Then you should just leave." Yabu says, his tone grave.
Morimoto's eyes widen, "I don't understand it! Why do all of you always take his side? I know that you know that he's not as innocent as he seems, or as sweet, or as child-like. But why do you always have to take his side? I'm not even at fault here!"
He pushes Yabu aside and Yabu lets him go, shocked by the outburst.
Morimoto doesn't go to work for a few days.
His mom calls the company to ask for a vacation leave for the young boy. She tells them that Morimoto had been feeling under the weather and couldn't juggle the stress of school work, intensive practice and a sickness at the same time. Management allows it because activities for the moment were few and far in between.
The rest of JUMP come up with their own theories as to why the youngest was suddenly out of commission. Yaotome shares his idea, which is the most far-fetched with aliens and brain sucking cats in the equation while Okamoto suggests the possibility of heartbreak and recovery. Chinen blanches and slips out of the room inconspicuously. Yabu dispels his gossip mongering group mates by affirming what Management told them about Morimoto's hiatus. He tells them that he's seen the other boy with his own eyes.
When the group is placated and busy, Yabu steps out of the room to look for Chinen.
Chinen looks up when light enters the room he was hiding in, but it is Yabu's gentle greeting that makes him jump.
"Care to tell me about it?" Yabu whispers and Chinen shakes his head in reply. Yabu's smile is fond as he reaches over Chinen to turn on the light in the small janitor's closet, he closes the door before crouching beside Chinen. He wraps his arms tenderly around the other boy who receives it unmovingly.
Yabu sits down, still with his arms around Chinen.
"You know," Yabu starts, "sometimes, it's okay to let other people know what's going on..."
Chinen shrugs his shoulders, "what can I say? It's all my fault. That's all there is to it."
"Why would you say that?"
"It just is," his tone is bland with a brand of acceptance. Yabu's arm tightens around the other's small frame, "it's not even that I was playing with him..." Chinen whispers and Yabu figures it's time to give advice.
"You might just want to tell him that."
Chinen doesn't think much of Yabu's idea so he doesn't dwell on it. But when Morimoto absents himself for a second week, Chinen is compelled to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
He hates that he's acting like a girl out to confess to her crush, but he just couldn't face the other boy without shattering his own pride. People called him a girl already anyway, what was the harm in investing a little more in that identity?
He waits outside Morimoto's school gates patiently for the other boy to go out. When he spots the boy, he immediately springs into action and hands the letter he wrote to Morimoto. He walks away as fast as he could.
Now, it was all in Morimoto's hands.
Morimoto watches Chinen's back as he walks away and he stares at the envelope in his hand and thinks about throwing it away. But a bigger part of him is curious as to what the letter contains and so he takes the letter home and opens it in the privacy os his own room.
As he reads the letter, a myriad of expressions passing through his features until it finally settles on happily weirded out. He sets the letter aside, placing it in a safe place his brother couldn't spot and he goes to sleep immediately, finally achieving a sense of peace.
"So," Morimoto says, looking at Chinen through the mirror in their practice hall, "you must really like me huh?"
Chinen glares at Morimoto and mutters under his breath, "cocky bastard."
"I'm thinking... whether I'll like you too."
Chinen's eyes widen and he flushes slightly, "so...?"
Morimoto shrugs casually, slipping his hands into his pockets, "I don't know... maybe we can try something out?"
Chinen nods and smiles, "yeah. Maybe we could."
