You need to read some of the "Ultimate" titles in the Marvel line-up, in which Nick Fury has been reimagined as a black man. Further, whomever created him (I think it was Mark Millar, but I honestly don't recall, and it isn't worth looking up,) decided that he basically WAS Sammy Jackson, and that his illustrations and script have been tailored around that.

Hell, try and find a copy of the 'Ultimate Avengers' movie, and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah. Given the ... *ahem* ... previous casting choices, Richard Simmons would be an upgrade. Sammy's certainly capable of the role at least.

I never saw the original writing of Nick Fury as a Sam Jackson thing. He just didn't have the same supreme Jackass quality I love about Jackson.

I am gonna have to check out the new writing and see.
