I've been kind of reticent about sharing this with people, mostly on account of my mother not wanting me to tell people, but also because I'm not sure I'd be able to handle things if worse case scenario comes to be, which oddly enough is the very reason I'm posting about this at all.

A few months ago my step-father was diagnosed with skin cancer, ( Read more... )

Sometimes what people think is best and what actually is best in a situation can be completely different. I guess the secrecy lies in a need to keep control - the more people you tell, the less control over the situation you have and it can sometimes blow out of all proportion and make a bad deal a whole lot worse. But that doesn't always make it right either.

The biggest and best thing is that you've gotten it off your chest in here, cause internalising it sucks more than anything, but always know that if you ever want a rant, you've always got a Cas ready to listen (or read, or gabble at you, lol.)

Yeah, it does make sense she'd want to keep a tight leash on it because of fear it gets too big to handle, but still there's a certain cognitive dissonance involved with her actions/reasons and the woman who raised me, you know? The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that's the thing. Plus people's rights being violated ::is dramatic::

It feels SO good too, like, for a while I held myself from posting about it because I thought it would betray mom's trust somehow (never mind that this is highly unlikely to get back to her), but nah, it's just liberating. And then there's the added bonus of extra clarity/organization of thoughts provided. So.

You shouldn't feel guilty about wanting to talk about what's happened. It's normal and totally understandable that you want to vent. It's a ntural process.
Plus, it gives you perspective, lets you get a look at the bigger picture.
And remember - we're always here for you *snuggles*

::le sigh:: it's just, sometimes I feel like I'm dumping all my stuff on someone else and it feels wrong, but the relief of putting things out there does help. Makes it easier to breathe sometimes, and like you put it, helps with the perspective part.

Plus you've all been very supportive and understanding and I honestly couldn't ask for more. ::loves y'all::

It's our job, to be here for you honey. And we do it gladly *snuggles*

Also - I know that "dumping" your problems on someone else seems wrong. But if it works for you, you shouldn't feel guilty. I mean, for me, it's like when I watch movies cause I'm sad - it prevents me from thinking too much, from dwelling on the problem to the point of psychosis.

Plus, the person you're "dumping" on usually doesn't mind. They just want to help the best they can. Trust me - I know :)
hugs :*
